The meeting focused on IIASA’s integrative research in the areas of energy and climate change, and food and water along with the importance of linking research to policy—all areas of interest to the President. In particular, Prof. Kabat briefed the President about the Global Energy Assessment, future global water assessments, and his strategic vision for IIASA to become a global hub for systems science and think tanks. The discussions also focused on IIASA’s 40th Anniversary Conference which is under the patronage of the President of Austria with President Fischer giving the opening speech.
