Economic matters represent an integral part of the OSCE agenda, reflecting the Organization’s comprehensive approach to security. IIASA, through its science-diplomacy mandate and based on its multi-year research on challenges and opportunities of economic integration within a wider European and Eurasian space, is standing ready to assist OSCE in tackling those challenges and in finding mutually beneficial solutions in this area.
The OSCE 2018 Italian Chairmanship invited Dr. Nadejda Komendantova, IIASA Research Scholar, to speak at the meeting of the Economic and Environmental Committee on 18 April 2018. The Committee's meeting focused on regional and sub-regional integration and co-operation processes and agreements. Dr. Komendantova addressed the audience with a presentation on “Impacts of European and Eurasian Economic Integration on Foreign Direct Investment”. Among other speakers was Mr. Aliaksei Samasuyeu, Head of the Eurasian Integration Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus.
