AllEnvi, the French National Alliance for Research on the Environment, was established in February 2010 in response to demanding needs: to coordinate available competencies, knowledge and technologies to address environmental issues. The conference Rencontres Scientifique 2016 (Science Meetings 2016) focused on Climate, Energy and the Environment: how can a transition to sustainability be achieved? After COP 21, what are the scientific questions to be addressed to support this transition?
Kabat gave an opening/keynote lecture on the "Systemic View of Environmental Issues" at 9.50am. Prior to Kabat’s lecture, Alain Fuchs, President and Director General of the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), and François Houllier, President of the French National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA), officially opened the conference at 9.30am.
During the event, Kabat and Houllier publicly signed the Memorandum of Understanding between IIASA and INRA to further strengthen their research partnership. Kabat also met with Fuchs to discuss joint research collaborations between IIASA and CNRS.
