As a "Climate Alliance" community in Austria, the community of Laxenburg strives to raise awareness about environmental issues and smart choices to reduce. For the fourth time this May, IIASA hosted the annual Climate and Energy Day in Laxenburg.

This year's event focused on weather and extreme events in the perspective of climate change: research indicates that storms, heat waves, and other extreme weather events may increase in severity as an impact of climate change.

The program included a puppet theater and workshop for children, followed by presentations in German, discussion, and a small buffet with wine. Speakers included Bernhard Kletter (former ORF weather presenter), Roger Hackstock (Klimablog), and IIASA researcher Stefan Hochrainer-Stiegler on weather and extreme events.
