IIASA Director General and CEO Professor Dr. Pavel Kabat, and Special Assistant to the Director General Chin Min Lee will participate in the meeting in Oslo, Norway.

The meeting is hosted by the Research Council of Norway, IIASA's National Member Organization for Norway. It will focus on the Sustainable Development Goals, biodiversity and ecosystem services, land use, food security, freshwater, and other issues related to global change. The meeting will include a discussion of how the Belmont Forum will interact with the scientific community including the Future Earth initiative, of which IIASA is a partner.

IIASA Research and the Sustainable Development Goals

IIASA is developing new international research projects providing scientific support for the implementation of the SDGs to 2030 and beyond:

In addition, IIASA research on energy and climate played an important role in several of the SDGs: the 2012 Global Energy Assessment provided the backbone for the quantitative goals in SDG7, which is focused on energy. IIASA research related to climate change has also provided important inputs to SDG13, which is focused on climate change mitigation.
