The IIASA Council is recognizing Professor Dr. Jie Wang's valuable contributions to the work of the Council as a member of the Program and Membership Committees and his leadership as chair of the Membership Committee (2006-2013) and member of the Executive Committee, and appreciating his ongoing efforts to promote scientific collaboration between IIASA’s researchers and the Chinese academic community through support of cooperative research projects, YSSP and postdoctoral fellowships, joint workshops at IIASA and in China, and research exchanges, and noting that Dr. Jie Wang has provided gateways for IIASA to China’s academic and policy decision makers at the highest levels in order to develop new opportunities for institutional cooperation in understanding and applying systems analysis for complex problems, hereby confers upon him, in appreciation of his strong support of the ideals and goals of the Institute, the title of IIASA Honorary Scholar.
The Council wishes him the very best for the future and hopes that he will maintain a strong and active interest in IIASA.

The Council governs IIASA and is responsible for establishing relations with governments and multi-national bodies; for determining financial and managerial policies, and subject areas for research of the Institute; and for ensuring that the activities of the Institute are in line with its objectives, the provisions of the Charter and the interest of the national member organizations.
