Merce Labordena joined IIASA’s Risk, Policy and Vulnerability (RPV) Program as a Research Assistant intern in February 2013 working for her MSc in renewable energy from the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm. During her studies she focused mainly on climate change mitigation and adaptation, and energy policy, with a special interest in electricity markets. Ms. Labordena holds an MSc in landscape architecture from the Technical University of Catalonia, where she specialized in planning and environmental policies.
Her research interests fall into two categories: Firstly to discover how new and more interrelated models based on quantitative/statistical analysis, aligned with a qualitative policy-oriented evaluation, could assess climate change mitigation in a broader context. Secondly are the socio-economic impacts from the deployment of renewable energy sources.
