Åke Brännström came to IIASA in April 2004 as a postdoctoral fellow funded by the Swedish Kempe foundations. Since January 2006 he has been working in the Evolution and Ecology Program as a postdoctoral scholar as part of the European Research Training Network on Fisheries-induced Adaptive Changes in Exploited Stocks (FishACE).
Dr. Brännström studied mathematics and computer science at the University of Umea, Sweden, where he received his master's degree in 2001 and doctoral degree in 2004. His general field of interest is the dynamics and evolution of complex adaptive systems and how such systems can be analyzed and understood mathematically.
