Anindya Bhattacharya is currently working as Senior Energy Economist at the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies in Japan. He has more than 10 years of experience in the field of international energy policy and economics. His research interests include energy systems analysis, regulatory and investment polices of power sector in Asia and cross border energy trading. He has been involved in various intergovernmental energy research and technical assistance projects in the Asia Pacific region. In IIASA he is involved in developing the water module of the MESSAGE model to investigate the impacts of Asia’s long term energy scenario on water availability and vice versa.
Mr. Bhattacharya holds a bachelor's degree in physics and an MBA in public system management from the University of Calcutta, India and an MS degree in resource economics from West Virginia University, USA. He is currently pursuing his PhD in energy economics from Kyoto University in Japan.
