The Clean Air for Europe (CAFE) programme of the EU

Supported by its Clean Air for Europe (CAFE) programme, the European Commission has developed a long-term, strategic and integrated policy to protect against the effects of air pollution on human health and the environment. CAFE provided the scientific rationale for the environmental interim objectives presented by the European Commission in its Thematic Strategy on Air Pollution.

This web site provides key documents produced with IIASA's RAINS model for the CAFE programme.

The Thematic Strategy on Air Pollution

The first integrated clean air strategy has been adopted by the European Commission in September 2005:

CAFE reports and stakeholder consultations:

All data of the CAFE baseline scenario are available from the web-version of the RAINS model.
