Scenarios of Global Anthropogenic Emissions of Air Pollutants and Methane Until 2030

This page contains a paper describing global anthropogenic emissions of of sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO), carbonaceous particles (black carbon (BC) and organic carbon (OC))and methane (CH4). Estimates are based on current perspectives of individual countries on economic, energy and agricultural development. Emissions were estimated for two scenarios: the "current legislation" (CLE) and the "maximum technically feasible reduction" (MTFR). The CLE scenario takes into account the anticipated effects of presently decided emission control legislation. The MTFR scenario outlines the scope for emission reduction offered by a full implementation of the best available emission control technologies.

Earlier versions of these scenarios were used in several studies on global air quality within the IPCC-AR4 /ACCENT project.
