Determinants of the future of fossil extractive industries

Abstract

Capturing the main interactions within the energy system through an integrated modelling framework, salient uncertainties of the future of fossil extractive industries are explored through a scenario approach. The results are summarised and then further analysed through further scenario/model sensitivity runs to highlight the influence of major policy choices as reflected in alternative investment, technology innovation, and climate protection strategies.
