Carbon Management: A New Dimension of Future Carbon Research

Abstract

This paper investigates the role of uncertainties in verifying the Kyoto Protocol. A verification time concept that has been developed at IIASA is applied to higher-order Taylor expansion to describe emission signals. Verification times for Annex I countries, depending on dynamics of emissions and associated uncertainties, are analyzed up to the second order.
