Objectives: Analyze the diffusion of  electronic communication technologies, how and where they are used, as well as their potential impacts

Illustration: The advent of networked computers has given birth to new communication forms (e-mail, chat, etc.) and infrastructures (the Internet). Growth has been phenomenal: over the past eight years, the number of Internet hosts has grown from one to one hundred million, and the new infrastructure is beginning to change the way people communicate and how business is done.
