These are copies of
some of the input and output screens in the RAPS-China system. They
illustrate the various capabilities of this tool. A user would interact
with the interface in a step-by-step procedure to (1) browse the
database, which includes more than 300 data records (= variables), (2)
select, filter, and sort variables, (3) combine selected variables in up
to six different regional development indices (6 per session), such as a
"Human Development Index", an "Economic Development Index" or a
"Environment Protection Index"), (4) apply weights to each
variable of each index, (5) apply weights to each sub-index of the
composite index, (6) display the results in a table which can be sorted
and filtered by sub-region, (7) display results in a thematic map (which
the system is producing automatically), (8) modify if necessary color
scales and gradients of the map, (9) display results in automatic
charts, which allow easy comparison of indicators, indices, and
composite indices across 31 (mainland) provinces of China, (10) print
the output tables, charts and maps, or copy&paste them into another
application (11) save everything into a custom file (including all
variable selections and weights) for later use. |
