What is the main output?

With the RAPS tool you can produce the following output:

Summary tables for 31 Chinese provinces and several specialized regional aggregations (such as summary tables for the 8 "Economic Regions" of China, all "Western Provinces" or the geographical regions of China). In these summary tables you may have individual indicators or combined (and weighted) development indices. All tables can be saved (in ASCII format), exported into MS-Excel or printed. The indicators for the summary tables can be selected from a large regional database, which includes more than 1000 variables.

Distribution statistics for 31 Chinese provinces and several specialized regional aggregations (such as the maximum, minimum, mean, standard deviation, variance, skewness, kurtosis, and two different diversity indices). These statistics describe the distribution of indicator values between the Chinese provinces or specialized regions. They provide quantitative measures for the regional diversity in China. Since you can calculate these statistics for several hundred statistical data for more than a dozen different development dimensions, they provide valuable insight into China's regional development disparities.

Thematic maps of China for hundreds of regional development indicators and any number of specialized indices you might develop. All maps can be produced immediately on screen without the usual technical hassles of GIS systems. Moreover all maps can be copied into other MS-Windows applications (such as MS-Word, MS-PowerPoint, etc.); they can be saved for later use; and they can be printed in high-resolution publication quality.

Specialized charts for comparing variable and index values across provinces. All charts can be produced immediately on screen and may be copied into other MS-Windows applications (such as MS-Word, MS-PowerPoint, etc.); and they can be saved for later use.
