The first annual meeting of the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) and the Disaster Prevention Research Institute (DPRI) of the Kyoto University on Integrated Disaster Risk Management: Reducing Socio-Economic Vulnerability took place at IIASA in Laxenburg, Austria on August 1–4, 2001. The meeting followed two EuroConferences at IIASA on "Global Change and Catastrophe Risk Management."

Organizers were Aniello Amendola (IIASA/DPRI), Joanne Linnerooth-Bayer (IIASA), Norio Okada (DPRI) and Hirokazu Tatano (DPRI/IIASA).
