The Sixth DPRI-IIASA Forum on Integrated Disaster Risk Management took place August 13-17, 2006 in Istanbul, Turkey.

The Forum was co-organized by

• the Disaster Management Coordination Center (AKOM) of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB),
• the World Bank Institute (WBI),
• the Disaster Prevention Research Institute (DPRI) of the Kyoto University,
• and the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA),

with additional sponsorship from the Government of Spain.

Among the 147 attendents were academics, practitioners,and policymakers from 22 countries attended. The mayor and governor of Istanbul, Kadir Topbas and Muammer Güler, gave opening presentations and adddressed a press session on the anniversary of the Marmora earthquake.
