Actors' Long Term Investments in the Context of Climate and Energy

Description
The overall objective is to identify the decision-making criteria that are important for long-term investment decisions in various energy generation options within Europe, and to incorporate these criteria into evaluations of potential future energy paths and policies to achieve those paths.

The IIASA component of the work is to conduct the empirical portion of the project. We are focusing heavily on investments in large scale solar generation facilities and associated power transport, evaluating the importance of investment uncertainty and payback time from the perspective of financers. The empirical strategy revolves around expert interviews, workshops, surveys, and comparisons with historical cases of analagous scale and risk levels.
