Training Course on Systems - Modeling of Population-Development-Environment Interactions

University of Pretoria, South Africa
4-15 January 1999

The PDE project "Evaluating Alternative Paths for Sustainable Development in Botswana, Namibia and Mozambique" also included a component to train interested civil servants and students from the region in the methods of systems analysis as applied to population-development-environment interactions. Participants in this two-week workshop, conducted in collaboration with the Centre for Population Studies at the University of Pretoria, learned how to use the existing models for policy analysis and how to develop models themselves.

Participation in the training course was limited to 32 people. Up to 8 people from each of the four countries Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia and South Africa were selected from the applicants. The language of instruction was English.
