Asif Wazir joined the World Population Program as a Guest Research Scholar in May 2008.

Mr. Wazir is currently working on his PhD in demography at the University of Vienna, Austria under the supervision of Professor Wolfgang Lutz. He is investigating human capital and economic growth with a special emphasis on Pakistan. He is also working on population projection with respect to education in Pakistan.

Mr. Wazir received his master’s degree in statistics from Bahaudin Zakariya University Multan, Pakistan. He was a Lecturer in statistics at Govt. Degree College, Bhagtanwala, Sargodha, where he has been teaching statistics and mathematics. He did his graduate work in statistics and economics at Islamia University Bahawalpur, Pakistan.

His major interests are population projection, educational demography, economic growth and demography.
