Elke Loichinger joined the World Population Program as a Research Assistant in October 2009. She is a PhD student at the Vienna University of Economics and Business. For her thesis, she is working on questions related to labour potential in aging societies, with a focus on Europe.

Ms. Loichinger has a diploma in economic geography from the University of Regensburg, Germany (2004) and a Master of Public Policy from Duke University (2007). Before joining IIASA, she was a PhD student at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research in Rostock, Germany.
