imageHarold Lentzner joined the World Population Program as a researcher in January 2009.

He is a demographer/epidemiologist with particular interests in the dynamics of health and ageing and the efficient use of health data systems. He worked for the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for 15 years in both Atlanta, Georgia and Washington, D.C.

Dr. Lentzner’s first visit to IIASA was in the summer of 1991, serving as an instructor in health demography for students in the Young Scientists Summer Program. Since 2005 he has worked with colleagues at IIASA and the Vienna Institute of Demography, analyzing data from the Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE).

Dr. Lentzner has a PhD in demography from the University of Pennsylvania.
