    Shonali Pachauri  

 

 

Shonali Pachauri is the Deputy Program Leader of the Population and Climate Change (PCC) Program at IIASA since 2008. She also works one-third of her time with the Global Energy Assessment (GEA) in the Energy Program as of 2008. She joined IIASA as a Research Scholar in the Population and Climate Change Program in October 2005.

Shonali Pachauri has a background in energy and environmental economics. She received her Ph.D. from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETHZ) in 2002, following which she worked as a Post Doc with the Centre for Energy Policy and Economics at ETHZ. She also holds a master’s degree in environmental and resource economics from University College London. Her main fields of scientific interest include the socioeconomics of energy access, use and choice; resource use and access in relationship to lifestyles, poverty and development; energy demand and fuel choice modeling; and the energy analysis of household consumption in developing countries. She has published in a variety of journals, including Energy Policy and World Development.
