Nikolai Melnikov was a participant in the 2004 Young Scientists Summer Program. He rejoined the Institute as a Research Scholar in the PCC/DYN Programs in February 2005.

Dr. Melnikov graduated from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics at Moscow State University (master's degree with distinction, 1998) and obtained his Candidate Degree in physics and mathematics from the Steklov Mathematical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (PhD, 2002). He worked as a Research Fellow at the Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics of the RAS from 2001 to 2003. Currently he holds the positions of Seniour Research Fellow at the Central Economics and Mathematics Institute of the RAS (since 2004) and Associate Professor at the Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics at MSU (since 2002). His research fields are control theory and dynamical systems and applications. He received the Russian Government Award in 1999 and the ISSEP Award 2000-2001. He was a visitor at the Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences, Cambridge (2000), Fields Institute for Research in Mathematical Sciences, Toronto, and the Centre de Recherches Mathématiques, Montreal (2004).
