In response to suggestions from the Council, the Science Advisory Committee and the Evaluation Committee for Energy and Technology, IIASA has established a Methodology Forum. Its goal is to facilitate cross-program sharing of experiences and problems in methodological issues. The Forum is being chaired by Director Leen Hordijk with the assistance of Marek Makowski. Regular presentations with open discussions aim to increase cooperation between IIASA's applied research programs and those with a focus on methodology. There are two seminar series
The first series begun in May 2005 with a discussion of scaling issues; the next theme planned is uncertainty analysis. As part of the Forum, scientists from the Dynamic Systems, Evolution and Ecology programs and the Integrated Modeling Environment project will discuss methods they judge to be of importance for the scientists in the other programs. Invited scholars from outside IIASA as well as visitors will also present methodological issues at the Forum. Responsible
