In some countries in the tropics the extents of forest ecosystems derived from
the GLCC exceed the area of forest and woodland published by FAO (perhaps due
to plantation crops being classified as forest in GLCC). In such cases, the
estimates of suitable areas under forest ecosystems were adjusted proportionally.
