DEGRADATION - Pollution

The atmospheric pollution description characterizes the amount of atmospheric emissions emitted either for an administrative region or for a industrial site. For each of the geographical objects a de-aggregation by branch of industry is used. The atmospheric pollution description is given for the years 1992 and 1993.

The pollution description is divided in the following major categories:

Total emissions
Inorganic emissions
Organic emissions
Solid and liquid emissions
Dust emissions
Flue gasses
Filter residue
Recycled residue
Each major category is further divided into substance groups and chemical compounds.

Source of Data
The initial source of the data is the GOSGOMSTAT - State Committee of the Russian Federation on Statistics.


Technical Note
The data tables of the pollution description are named in the database using the template of PREFIX_BASE_SUFFIX, where
the PREFIX denotes the data section, being in the current case 'PO_',
the BASE is identified in the data table definitions and
the SUFFIX marks the type of the table being either 'YF' - Year Field or 'PF' - Parameter Field. (NOTE: The distinction of the two table types is also present in the socio-economic description, where also a proper definition is given.)

The year fields are 1992 and 1993.

In addition to the data tables the database contains also views from the base tables. The views have been named using the template PREFIX_BASE_SUFFIX_SUFFIX2, where the PREFIX, the BASE, and the SUFFIX have the same meaning as mentioned above.
the SUFFIX2 marks the distinction of the geographical object type, being 'TWN' for industrial sites and 'ADM' for administrative regions.
