About the Laxenburg Conference Center
The Conference Center Laxenburg was established using the former Palace Theater and the Imperial dining rooms, where in former times Empress Maria Theresia and her court enjoyed theatrical performances and culinary delicacies. The Palace Theater and dining wing were built in 1753, following designs by Nicolo Pacassi. In Maria Theresia’s time and quite in keeping with her wishes many people from Emperors to simple people, came to Laxenburg Palace on the outskirts of Vienna, in order to meet or take part in events. For centuries, along with Schönbrunn and the Hofburg, it was the most important domicile of the Habsburgs. Here statesmen, diplomats and generals conferred in what were then the reception rooms of the Palace (and are now event rooms in the Conference Center Laxenburg). The Conference Center Laxenburg is now as in those days a favorite rendezvous for meetings.
