Travel Grants

Introduction How to apply

Introduction

The European research networking program Frontiers of Speciation Research invites applications for travel grants intended to foster collaborations between European researchers working on topics related to the program. Support is available for short visits (up to 2 weeks) and exchange grants (up to 3 months) with preference given to junior researchers at a graduate or postdoctoral level.

Level of award
Short Visit Grants can be applied for on the basis of an allowance of up of 85 EUR per day, plus actual travel expenses up to a maximum of 500 EUR. Exchange Visit Grants can be applied for on the basis of an allowance of up to 1600 EUR per month or 400 EUR per week or 57 EUR per day, plus actual travel expenses up to a maximum of 500 EUR. These grants do not cover health insurance, taxes, or retirement schemes. Applicants will want to keep in mind that, reflecting the availability of funds, applications for short visits are more likely to succeed than applications for exchange grants, and that granted amounts are typically adjusted relative to solicited amounts so as to promote equity among selected candidates.

Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for a Short Visit Grant or an Exchange Grant, applicants must:

  • undertake work applicable to the FroSpects Research Networking Programme;
  • apply to stay in a country other than the country of origin;
  • return to the institution of origin upon termination, so that the applicant's institution may benefit from the broadened knowledge of the scientist.
