IIASA-WEC Database

In 1998, ECS completed a five-year joint study with the World Energy Council (WEC). The study analyzed six alternative global energy scenarios extending to 2100. This link includes a 20-page summary paper plus an interactive database containing the study's most important numerical assumptions and results.

A CD-ROM summary uses colorful animated graphics to communicate the study's highlights in a way understandable even to non-energy specialists. The CD-ROM includes a five-minute guide of key results, and allows users to peruse all aspects of the study in any preferred order. To order, print out and complete the order form (pdf format) and fax it to Romeo Molina at +43-2236-807-488 or send it as an e-mail attachment.

CO2DB

CO2DB is a database for collecting and analyzing detailed data on carbon mitigation technologies. The database currently contains approximately 3000 technologies, including detailed technical, economic and environmental characteristics as well as data on innovation, commercialization and diffusion. Users can add to, select, filter, arrange, and compare CO2DB's data according to any of the technology characteristics included in each database entry. One can also make energy chain calculations as well as comparison tables and graphics on the technology and the chain level.

The CO2DB manual provides additional detail on the database and software.

Growth Study Datasets

The website contains the description of the datasets used for a greenhouse gas initiative (GGI) project on the construction of a new economic growth scenario generator. The datasets contain basic economic data and estimated total factor productivity at country levels. All of the data is presented in constant 2000 US prices (using market exchange rate) and constant 2000 international prices (using purchasing power parity) and covers the time period from 1945 onwards (most economic data starts in 1960’s). The data also includes regional aggregates for GDP.
