    International Energy Workshop 2001  

 

 

 


A joint meeting of the Energy Modeling Forum, International Energy Agency and the International Energy Workshop took place on 19-21 June 2001 at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), Laxenburg, Austria.

The meeting consisted of 3 days of meetings with experts in the energy field. The plenary discussion focused on oil and gas reserves and resources. The second plenary session on the EMF-19 study, organized by John Weyant, reported on current research around the impact of new technologies in the energy sector. The final session highlighted the issues surrounding the problems with the Kyoto Protocol in light of the American and European outlook.

Topics discussed during the parallel sessions involved:

  • ENERGY-ECONOMICS-ENVIRONMENT SCENARIOS AND THEIR KEY ASSUMPTIONS
  • PRIMARY ENERGY RESOURCES AND POTENTIALS OF RENEWABLES
  • ENERGY TECHNOLOGY ASSESSMENT AND INNOVATION
  • CLIMATE PROTECTION BEYOND 2010
  • METHODOLOGY

The meeting also congratulated the co-organizers, Alan S. Manne and Leo Schrattenholzer, on their success of organizing this network of energy experts for 20 years.
