One-day tutorial on
will be organised by
Workshop will take place at Büyükada, one of the
Princess Islands in Istanbul.
This is the most beautiful island among Princess Islands. There are no motor cars
allowed. Transportation is with horse carriages. It is a beautiful island. It is a summer
resort for Turkish people. Most people return to their winter homes when the schools
start in the fall.
It is of course possible to stay in the city and travel every day to Büyükada.
The approximate travel time is 30-40 minutes by an air-conditioned, comfortable seabus.
There are other boats too but it takes longer. Direct boats take an hour, the ones
which stop at every island take 1.5 hours or a little bit longer.
The phone number of Anadolu Club, the workshop site, is +90-216-382-6830. There you
should ask for: Bora Baycik, or Zeki Atamer or Bulent Baykurt (people answering the
phone may not know English). For August 31 there will certainly be someone who knows
English. The fax number of the Club is +90-216-382-1113.
To get to BUYUKADA ANADOLU KLUB from the airport:
For August 31 only,
there will be someone to greet the arriving guests at the airport.
The special workshop bus will leave the airport at 2:00 PM, 5:00 PM, and 8:00 PM. This
bus will take the guests to the pier where the ferries will depart for BUYUKADA.
If your arrival date and/or time doesn't agree with the above transportation
you can get to BUYUKADA ANADOLU KLUB from the airport by following
these instructions:
It takes about one to one and a half hours to reach the Pier from the airport depending
on traffic of course. Since the last sea bus departure time from Kabatas is at 8:15 PM,
people taking the last shuttle bus at 8:00 PM take the regular ferry from Sirkeci. This
takes an hour and a half to reach the island compared to 30-40 minutes with the sea bus.

The purpose of the workshop is to present and review methodology, theory, and
practical aspects of decision support in network centric organizations.
The emphasis is on multiple criteria approaches.
Currently, most decision making and planning processes take
place in networked and/or distributed organizations. Processes like these
involve multiple agents having multiple criteria and operating in ill-defined
and dynamic environments. This kind of decision environment requires new types of
decision support systems. It is very important that those systems meet
behavioral realism and the complexity of reality. For instance, research on
choice behavior, qualitative aspects and imprecision of decision making, as well as
the application of modern information technology (Internet/Intranet, knowledge
discovery) are very relevant.
The purpose of the one-day tutorial is to provide basic information
necessary for successfully participating in the workshop. The tutorial is composed of
introductory lectures by prominent scientists in their fields.
Papers are invited on all aspects of Multiple Criteria Support
in Network Centric Organizations, including:
Intending contributors should submit abstracts of not more than 200 words
in length, and should include the authors' names and addresses (with the
presenting author listed first), and up to four keywords. Abstracts should
preferably be submitted electronically by
email.
There will be a boat tour. Price is included in registration fee. Don't forget
your swimming suits! You can either swim in the sea or in swimming pool.
Please note that the number of participants is limited. The local organizers
are able to accommodate 70 persons in all.

The local currency is Turkish Lire. Most shops and restaurants will accept all major
credit cards, and most banks will change foreign currency. You can change
Turkish currency at the airport, since you need change for the sea bus. You can also
pay your taxi and do your shopping in US dollars.
