Listen [MP3; 10:00min; 9.1MB]

Summary

The Holy Grail in responding effectively to carbon emissions and climate change is the ability to move to a fully decarbonized economy, that is, one based on 100% renewable energy. Dr Anthony Patt, a co-author of a new report entitled 100% renewable electricity: A 2050 roadmap for Europe and North Africa, explains how a mix of pan-regional policy and market based development initiatives could enable Europe and North Africa to decarbonize their electricity generation by 2050.

The report, published by Price Waterhouse Coopers (PwC) LLP, is authored by a team involving individuals from PwC, IIASA, Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and the European Climate Forum.
